<description>'Hire Me' MailerI sent out a mailer to various design studios in 2010, informing them that I'm looking for a junior designer position. The A5 pack of 10 cards contains snippets of 7 projects, as well as a
CV and references.

<description>McDonald's 2011 Community ShieldTo promote McDonald’s support of amateur football, we wanted to celebrate the true heroes. The grassroots volunteers who help thousands of kids around the UK enjoy the game every week. The coaches. The bus drivers. The kit washers. The tea ladies.

The creative idea was inspired by a memory from every football fan’s childhood — Panini cards.

Instead of organising a regular photo shoot, we shot them at our very own football tournament, where we made our grassroots heroes into football card legends.

The campaign's focal point was the Community Shield match at Wembley Stadium. Tier strips, huge external banners, perimeter boards, scoreboard ears, the pitch centre spot, and displays in the stadium's FA Club Room all showed support for the volunteers and told their story.

We also arranged a special McDonald’s Photobooth that let people turn themselves into the football card legends they deserve to be. Retro wigs and moustaches included.

Mini sticker albums were given away on the day of the match, and the official programme featured a double-page spread of the teamsheet for an Under 8's squad from Nottingham.

In the months before and after the Community Shield game, press ads were printed in newspapers in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, featuring panini card designs tailored to their own Football Associations.

Role: Lead Designer
Art Direction &#38; Copywriting: Andy Drugan &#38; Ed Morris

<description>The Resistance Against MarketingThe thesis looks into how a movement against advertising and branding has evolved over the past decade, and how techniques such as culture jamming have been effective in creating a less consumptive lifestyle and a cleaner mental environment.

<description>McDonald's Farm ForwardFarm Forward is a collection of farming initiatives created by McDonald's. These include scholarships for young farmers, finance schemes to help farmers invest in their businesses, and funds for research projects into new animal welfare methods. McDonald’s wanted to package these many initiatives under one brand name that can appear on communications materials, and at events announcing and educating stakeholders.

An umbrella identity was created in an organic letterpress style with an earthy colour palette, and this visual style was continued for the various divisions of the Farm Forward programme.

<description>Samsung Galaxy ApolloWorking with Make, I created a typographic treatment to be used in a social media campaign to promote the new Samsung Galaxy Apollo in the Netherlands. One of Samsung's brand typefaces was used as the structure for mosaic letterforms that contain hundreds of profile pictures.
This was used in an interactive Facebook application, as well as being printed on posters and in magazines nationally.

Phil Skegg
Creative Director at LOVEAndy became a valued member of the creative team. As well as supporting the senior creatives as a junior designer, he worked on live briefs from conception through to presenting his ideas to the client.

In the time he was with us, he was enthusiastic, considerate and always keen to take on new challenges. His presentation skills in his work and in the client meetings were exemplary.

In all, it was a pleasure to have Andy working for us and I would thoroughly recommend him as part of any creative team.

Paul Ellerker
Director at BranchIt was a pleasure working with Andy — he’s a very bright, tall and talented young man.

He’s very strong conceptually and has a sound opinion so it was a massive help having him around - we’d have him back anytime.

Simon Manchipp
Creative Director at SomeOneAndy was a rare find. Someone who was the first to turn up, and the last to leave. He was a great intern, and one we still talk about.

He was also someone who really put his heart into his work and tried hard to ensure the projects he had were completed on time and to brief.

Apart from the fact that Andy gets drunk on a thimble of beer and eats nothing but ham &#38; cheese toasties, I’d wholeheartedly recommend him to any design company looking for a keen junior designer.

Andrew Eccles
Director at FudgeDuring his time at Fudge, Andy played a crucial role in the design development, and subsequent win, of a five figure retained account. His technical skills on a Mac along with his creative thinking provided him with the edge over other potential placements to secure the 4 week appointment.

I wouldn’t hesitate offering a permanent position to Andy should the opportunity arise and can see a very bright future ahead of him in the industry.
